Questions people ask before they buy

Plain answers. If something here is vague, that is a mistake — call the agent and ask it, or ask it to have a team member get back to you.

Getting started

What am I actually buying?

An AI receptionist named Aiden that answers your business phone 24 hours a day, built around your business by hand before it ever picks up. It takes the call, answers what it knows, gets the caller’s name, number and reason for calling, and texts and emails you a summary within minutes of the hang-up. Every plan also includes a chat widget for your website running on the same knowledge base.

Can I hear it before I pay anything?

Yes. Call 423-847-2828 and you are talking to a live production agent — the one answering our own line. He is trained on Ai Chattanooga itself: the plans, what is in each one, how the minutes work, how the build goes. Ask him what each plan costs, ask how the minutes work, ask whether he is an AI, ask him to have a person call you back, then try to sell him something and see what he does.

What kinds of businesses is this for?

Businesses where a call is a job: plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, dental and medical offices, law offices, salons, contractors, shops with a counter. The common thread is that the person who answers the phone is also the person doing the work.

How long before it is answering my phone?

Starter and Plus builds take 7 to 10 business days from the day your intake material lands. Pro takes 10 to 15 business days from the day your intake material lands, because it includes the website. Porting an existing number can add time depending on how fast your current carrier moves.

What do you need from me to build it?

About three hours of your time, spread across the build: an hour at kickoff, an hour gathering what you already have written down, thirty minutes on voice samples, and thirty minutes on test calls. We also want your last few weeks of voicemails, because that is where the real questions live. Then your hours, service area, pricing or menu, what you do not do, and who a call should go to when it needs a person. We drive out to businesses in Chattanooga, Hixson, Ooltewah, East Ridge, Red Bank, Signal Mountain, Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe to do that first session in person.

You are one person. What happens when you are busy?

The agent does not depend on anyone being awake — it answers at 2am on a Sunday whether or not anyone is at a desk. What a small shop changes is that support goes to the team, not a ticket queue. We are in Chattanooga on a 423 number and we run a print shop here, so we are findable.

What it does on a call

Will it sound like a robot?

Listen and decide for yourself — the sample below is the actual voice, and the live agent answers our own line. It interrupts politely, handles someone changing their mind mid-sentence, and does not read a script at you.

Does it tell people it is an AI?

If a caller asks, yes, it says so. It does not pretend to be a person named Susan. You choose how the greeting introduces it.

What if it does not know the answer?

It says it does not know, then takes a detailed message — or, on Plus and Pro, transfers to a person. You decide which, per situation. It does not guess, and nothing gets silently dropped: the attempt is logged either way.

What if it tells my customer something wrong?

It only answers from the knowledge base we build together; anything outside that becomes a message or a transfer. Every call is recorded, transcribed and summarized, so a wrong answer is visible the same day and gets fixed in the prompt instead of staying a mystery. Plus adds a monthly review call where we listen to real calls together and retune it. Pro adds a quarterly rebuild — a full transcript audit and a script rewrite, not just tuning.

Can a caller reach a real person?

On Starter he takes a message straight to you the moment someone asks for a person — he does not transfer. Plus warm-transfers to up to three people, with a spoken hand-off so the caller does not repeat themselves. Pro runs a full escalation tree — tech one, then tech two, then the on-call number, then a message, with a different tree after hours.

Does it speak Spanish?

Yes, on every plan, including Starter. English and Spanish. How it chooses between them is set during the build.

Can it book an appointment?

Plus and Pro book straight into your calendar — Google, Outlook, Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan. Starter does not book; it captures the caller and texts them your booking link.

Phone numbers and call flow

Do I get a new number or keep the one I have?

Either. We can port your existing number in, or you can keep your number and forward calls to a new local 423 number we provision. Every plan includes one local number.

Can it answer only after hours, or only the calls I miss?

Yes. Common setups are all calls, only the calls you do not pick up, or only nights and weekends. You can change it later.

Where do the messages go?

Text and email, within minutes of the call ending, with the caller's name, number, why they called and a link to the recording. Plus and Pro can send alerts to three different people with their own routing rules, and push every call into your CRM as a lead.

Does it block spam and robocalls?

Yes, and they are screened before they reach you. They do not count against your minutes and they are never billed.

Which plan do I need?

Starter if it is you and maybe one other person on one number. Plus if you have a crew, a calendar and a CRM you actually check, so a missed call is a missed job. Pro if you have multiple crews or locations, or your website needs replacing anyway. The full side-by-side is on the plans and pricing page.

What counts as a minute, and do unused minutes roll over?

A billed minute is live talk time on a call, and nothing else — not ring time, not spam, not a hangup at the greeting. Minutes reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over.

What happens if I go over my minutes?

It keeps answering — the agent does not stop mid-month. You get a heads-up before you reach your cap, and overage is billed at your plan's published rate: $0.30 a minute on Starter, $0.25 on Plus, $0.20 on Pro. If you run over two months in a row, that is a sign you are on the wrong plan and we should talk about moving you up.

Am I going to get a surprise bill?

Here is the whole mechanism in one place, so you can check it yourself. Billed minutes are live talk time only, spam does not count, you are warned before the cap, the overage rate is printed on the pricing page rather than buried in an invoice, and your login lists every call with its duration so you can check the bill against the log line by line.

Why is there a setup fee, and is it refundable?

Because there is real delivered work in it: call flows written from your actual voicemails, the voice chosen, the number ported, your knowledge ingested, and test calls run with you on the line. It is not refundable, because it bought work you already received. The exact amount for each plan is printed on the pricing page before you ever talk to anyone.

Someone quoted me less, with no setup fee.

Those products exist and some of them are real. The difference is what the build fee buys here: a person driving to your shop, sitting down with you, and listening to your last few weeks of voicemails before the agent ever answers a customer. If what you actually want is a tool you configure yourself in an afternoon, one of those is probably the better buy, and we will tell you so rather than sell you this.

Is this worth it for a shop my size?

The honest test is not whether an AI receptionist is impressive. It is what happens to the calls you miss right now, while you are under a sink, on a roof, or already on the other line. If those calls go to voicemail today, the real comparison is not this against a receptionist — it is this against voicemail. Call the demo line, then look at your own missed-call log for last week and do that arithmetic yourself. If the number is small, this is not worth it for you, and we will say so.

Would a human answering service be better?

Sometimes, honestly. If most of your calls need judgment no script can cover, a person is the right answer. A live answering service costs a great deal more every month, and a full-time receptionist in Chattanooga costs more again and still goes home at five. For most shops though, the real comparison is not this against a receptionist you were never going to hire. It is this against voicemail, which is what is answering right now.

Can I change plans later?

Yes. Moving up may involve additional build work, and that gets quoted and agreed before anything changes. Plan changes take effect on your next billing cycle.

How do I pay, and is there a free trial?

The Ai Chattanooga team sets billing up with you directly, as the note under the prices says. There is no free trial, because there is nothing to trial until the agent is built for you; instead the demo agent at 423-847-2828 is live around the clock and costs you nothing to call as many times as you want.

Your data and recordings

Are calls recorded?

Yes. Every call gets a recording, a full transcript and a written summary, on every plan including Starter. That is what makes a mistake fixable instead of theoretical.

What do I have to tell callers about recording?

That is a legal question and we are not lawyers, so we will not tell you what the law requires of your business. What we will do is put whatever notice your attorney tells you to use into the greeting, and change its wording whenever you say. Recording itself is part of all three plans and is not something we switch off.

Who can see my recordings and transcripts?

You, through your own login, and the Ai Chattanooga support team, for tuning. They are not sold, not shared with anyone else, and not used to build another agent.

Who owns what if we part ways?

You keep your recordings, your transcripts, your customer data and the material you gave us, and we export them on request. The agent configuration and prompts stay with us.

Cancelling and what you keep

How do I cancel, and will I be billed after?

Month to month, cancel with 30 days' notice, no auto-renewing term. Email info@aichattanooga.com or call — it is not a retention phone call you have to win. Your last bill is the cycle covered by that notice, and there is nothing after it.

What happens to my phone number if I leave?

It is yours. If you ported it in, it ports out. If we provisioned it, it transfers to whichever carrier you name.

If I am on Pro, do I keep the website?

Yes. The domain stays in your name the whole time, you own the content and images, and on the way out you get the files and help pointing the domain at your new host. The terms say the same thing about your domain and your content.

Still not answered

Call the agent and ask it. If it cannot answer, it takes a message and a team member gets back to you.
